KAMPUNG ANNAH RAIS. LONGHOUSE. HARI GAWAI. VISITING PLACE . BIDAYUH
Introduction
Annah Rais Longhouse is a Bidayuh village located about 100 kilometres south of Kuching, in the foothills of the Borneo Highlands, close the Kalimantan border. It is also known for the neighbouring hot springs, in addition to the traditional longhouse experience.
Kampung Annah Rais is a big Bidayuh community centred on a centuries-old bamboo longhouse, one of the most beautiful still standing. The Bidayuh, historically known as the Land Dayaks, make up around 8% of Sarawak's population. They are generous guests, and the town is the ideal location for learning about Bidayuh culture and way of life.
Communication
We spoke with one of the proprietors, who informed us that they have been operating a homestay since 2015.
There are a few families who live in the Kampung. They're all relatives.
People are pleasant and helpful.
We arrived on the day of the Gawai festival. They asked us to a lunch at their home.
I had a fantastic experience there.
